Birth regno 9791. Sgt 23rd Battalion. Unofficial Mayor of Lake Bolac. Any records which state his name as James Sutherland Murray are incorrect - he did not have a middle name.
Bought and lived with his wife and family on a property which he called "Kildonan" between Lake Bolac and Wickliffe on the north side of the Glenelg H'way.
His oldest brother John (Jack) lived for a time with him a time after his wife Catherine died from appendicitis in 1907.
James married Marian Ward, daughter of Thomas Ward and Mary Anne Ford, in 1899 in Lake Bolac. (Marian Ward was born in 1871 in Wickliffe, Vic, died in 1963 in Warrnambool and was buried in 1963 in Lake Bolac Cemetery, Lake Bolac, Victoria.)
